This looks like a cheesy baked toast sandwich with salami (or pepperoni), sliced cheese, and a creamy sauce

Ingredients (4 servings)

 

8 slices thick sandwich bread

8 slices cheddar or processed cheese

150 g salami or pepperoni, diced

1½ cups (150 g) mozzarella cheese, shredded

2 tbsp parsley, chopped

2 tbsp butter

Cream Sauce

 

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

1½ cups (360 ml) milk

Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

 

Make the sauce

Melt 2 tbsp butter in a saucepan.

Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.

Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth.

Cook until thickened.

Season with salt and pepper.

Prepare the bread

Butter one side of each bread slice.

Lightly toast or pan-fry until golden.

Assemble

Place a slice of cheese on 4 bread slices.

Add salami or pepperoni.

Top with another slice of cheese.

Cover with the remaining bread slices.

Add toppings

Spread the cream sauce over each sandwich.

Sprinkle diced salami and parsley on top.

Cover generously with shredded mozzarella.

Bake

Place on a baking tray.

Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.

Serve

Let cool for 2 minutes and serve hot.
